Our bakery is almost 100 years old and we provide traditional Canadian desserts that are made with simple ingredients that our great-great grand-mothers used when they made them at home many years ago.

Cooking and serving instructions:

Our products are made fresh and then frozen for shipping and conservation purposes.

You can enjoy them at room temperature and even leave them on your kitchen counter for up to 14 days after thawing them. You can also store them in the refrigerator for 14 days.

Although they taste great that way, we recommend slightly heating them in your oven or microwave until they are warm to your liking… adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream is the way we eat them here in Canada and they are truly delicious that way!

History

Boulangerie St-Donat is a bakery that has been established in St-Donat for almost a 100 years. The first mission of the company was to manufacture daily and distribute for its local market breads and pastry products.

St-Donat in the Lanaudière region being a popular tourist destination, vacationers and visitors have helped the company’s reputation for quality grow beyond the local area. The owners at the time took advantage of this opportunity to expand their product line as well as their distribution network.

In 1989, Guillaume St-Amour bought the company. While continuing and intensifying the quality policy of the St-Donat Bakery, he added several products to the already well established line by concentrating his efforts in the marketing of products from homemade recipes that came from his family and his acquaintances.

In the late 1990’s, Guillaume’s daughter Marie-Ève joined the company full time. Over the years, Marie-Ève has held various positions within the company until she became president in 2017.

In 2014 Boulangerie St-Donat proceeded with a major expansion of its production facilities in order to meet the demand for its products. At the same time Guillaume and Marie-Ève made the decision to divest the retail store located at 413 Main Street to their head baker Luc Audeoud. Our customers visiting St-Donat can find our products in the 2 grocery stores in the village, at the Boulangerie du Village boutique and also at La Boîte à Tarte during during high seasons.

St-Donat Bakery is a national supplier for large food chains and an important supplier for seasonal products (Maple Products, Apple Season, Berries, etc.).

Thanks to the quality of its products and its employees who share the owners’ passion for a job well done and an absolute fondness for desserts, the company is constantly growing. The team at St-Donat Bakery intends to continue this expansion by continuing to privilege the marketing of products which will combine Simplicity, Authenticity, Originality and Pleasure.
